One of the most celebrated ornamental grasses in cultivation, Calamagrostis x acutiflora 'Karl Foerster' is prized for its strongly upright, architectural habit and long season of interest. Nearly identical to 'Stricta', it distinguishes itself in cooler climates by being more compact and blooming 2–3 weeks earlier. From spring through summer, feathery flower plumes rise dramatically above the foliage, making it an outstanding border plant and cut flower. Drought and deer resistant once established.
