Shipping & Delivery

At Russian River Rootworks, we take pride in growing, packing, and shipping our plants with care so they arrive healthy and ready to thrive. Below you’ll find our shipping details, guarantees, and helpful information to ensure a smooth experience.

To help you get the best shipping rates available, we recommend ordering at least 3-4 plants per shipment.


Where We Ship

  • Live plants ship to the contiguous U.S. (lower 48 states) only.

  • Seeds and hard goods may ship to Alaska, Hawaii, and PO Boxes.

  • Live plants require a street address for reliable delivery.


When We Ship

We ship once or twice weekly, typically on Tuesdays and, when appropriate, on Fridays (weather permitting):

  • Orders placed by Monday at 12:00 pm PT ship on Tuesday.

  • Orders placed by Thursday at 12:00 pm PT ship on Friday for West Coast or short-transit destinations. Longer-distance orders may hold until Tuesday to avoid weekend delays.

This schedule ensures plants spend as little time in transit as possible.


Processing Time

  • Most orders ship within 2–5 business days after being placed.

  • During peak spring and fall seasons, processing may take slightly longer.


Per-Box Shipping Rates

Live plants ship in custom boxes designed to protect them during transit. Rates are calculated per box based on region and box size:

We Generally ship in three different box sizes

8" x 8" x 12" for orders from one to four 4" plants, or one 1-gal plant.

12" x 12" x 12" for orders from five to nine 4" plants, or up to four 1-gal plants

12" x 12" x 24" for orders from ten to eighteen 4" plants, or up to eight 1-gal plants. 


Weather Holds

  • If temperatures fall below 35°F or rise above 90°F along the route, we may hold your order until conditions improve.

  • Customers may choose to “Ship Anyway” but assume responsibility for plant condition on arrival.


Local Pickup & Delivery

  • Free nursery pickup in Ukiah, CA — available Fridays by appointment.

  • Local delivery available in select zip codes starting at $15 per order.


Packaging & Plant Safety

  • Plants are packed snugly with soil-stabilizing sleeves, breathable liners, and moisture checks before shipment.

  • Foliage may be lightly trimmed for safe packing and healthy regrowth.


Live Arrival Guarantee

We guarantee your plants will arrive alive and healthy.

  • If plants arrive damaged, contact us within 48 hours with photos of the plants and the shipping label.

  • We will replace the plants or issue store credit at our discretion.


Establishment Window

If a plant fails within 14 days of delivery despite proper care, we will issue store credit for the plant price (one-time replacement).

We cannot guarantee survival beyond this period due to factors outside our control, such as care, climate, or planting conditions.


What’s Not Covered

  • Plants shipped during extreme weather if “Ship Anyway” is requested.

  • Delayed pickup, improper care, or planting outside recommended zones.

  • Pest, disease, or environmental issues after arrival.


Cancellations & Order Changes

  • Changes or cancellations are accepted until 9:00 am PT on your scheduled ship day.

  • After that, your order will be packed and shipped as planned.


Returns

  • Live plants are non-returnable.

  • Hard goods and non-perishable items may be returnable; please contact us for details.


Care on Arrival

  1. Unpack plants immediately upon arrival.

  2. Water thoroughly if soil is dry.

  3. Give plants 24–48 hours in bright, indirect light before planting outdoors.
