Fragaria vesca var. vesca – Wild Strawberry, Woodland Strawberry

The original wild strawberry of European woodlands, Fragaria vesca var. vesca produces delicate white flowers from spring through fall followed by small, intensely flavored red fruits that are far more aromatic and sweet than commercial strawberries. Its spreading, runner-forming habit makes it an excellent groundcover for woodland gardens, shaded borders, and edible landscapes. The attractive trifoliate foliage is semi-evergreen and provides year-round interest, and the plant naturalizes readily in suitable conditions.
