Epilobium canum ssp. canum – California Fuchsia (Hummingbird Flower)

This delightful California native perennial subshrub brings vibrant red tubular flowers to water-wise gardens from summer into fall, providing a welcome late-season nectar source for hummingbirds. Its slender, branching stems and attractive gray-green foliage create a lovely informal planting for sunny rock gardens, borders, and dry slopes. Native to California's dry slopes, this low-maintenance plant is drought tolerant once established and can be used near oaks where adequate sun and compatible dry growing conditions are available. Its clump-forming growth can spread through rhizomes, so allow room for it to develop naturally. Plant in well-drained soil and avoid overwatering.
