A tough and versatile evergreen shrub, 'Purpurea' features attractive willow-like leaves and bears lovely pinkish fruit with ornamental papery seed capsules. Naturally forming a handsome bush, it can also be trained as a small tree for added versatility in the landscape. Exceptionally tolerant of drought, coastal conditions, heat, wind, and both sun and shade, it's an excellent fire-retardant choice for challenging sites and low-water gardens.
