Chondropetalum tectorum – Small Cape Rush (Thatch Reed)

This South African restio forms a broad, dense clump of stiff gray-green stems topped by dark brown flower spikes. Its upright texture makes an attractive architectural accent in garden beds. This is the smaller species, reaching 2–3 feet tall; the related C. elephantinum grows 4–6 feet tall.
