Salvia 'Amistad' – Friendship Sage
Discovered by Argentine salvia expert Rolando Uria, 'Amistad' (Spanish for "friendship") is a stunning perennial subshrub that earns its place in any garden with masses of rich dark purple flowers held by a striking black calyx from early spring through frost. Its foliage carries a lovely scent of mint or anise, and the plant is a reliable magnet for hummingbirds and butterflies. Tolerant of drought, deer, and gophers, it makes an excellent tall border plant and a beautiful cut flower.
