A late-season standout, Ceratostigma plumbaginoides produces vivid cobalt-blue flowers from late summer through fall — one of the truest blues in the garden — just as most other perennials are winding down. As temperatures drop, the foliage transitions to rich bronzy-red, providing a stunning second season of color. Drought tolerant and spreading steadily by rhizomes, it is an outstanding ground cover for sunny to partly shaded slopes, borders, and rock gardens.
