Carex praegracilis 'Chisai' – Clustered Field Sedge
A California native selected for its compact, well-behaved growth habit, Carex praegracilis 'Chisai' is a fine-textured, rich dark green sedge that outperforms most in density and tidiness. Shorter and darker than the straight species, it slowly spreads by rhizomes to form a lush, low-maintenance groundcover that tolerates moderate foot traffic — making it an excellent lawn alternative, meadow filler, or rock garden accent.
