Compact and floriferous, Salvia x sylvestris 'Blue Hills' ('Blauhügel') produces dense spikes of clear blue flowers above a tidy mound of aromatic gray-green foliage. One of the most reliable and well-behaved of the wood sages, it blooms prolifically in late spring and early summer and reblooms after a hard cut-back. Drought tolerant and deer resistant, 'Blue Hills' is an excellent choice for the front of sunny borders, pathway edging, and pollinator gardens.
