Juncus effusus 'Quartz Creek' – Soft Rush
A lovely grass-like perennial for moist gardens, 'Quartz Creek' forms a distinctive vertical accent with narrow, soft, rounded green stems and an upright, outward-diverging habit. Its medium-green foliage provides attractive texture beside water features and in pots, then can turn yellowish brown after the first frost. Small yellow-green to pale-brown flowers appear near the stem tips in early summer. This generally trouble-free rush tolerates deer, gophers, boggy conditions, and clay soil, making it an excellent practical choice for wet garden areas where many other ornamentals struggle.
