Rock Purslane is a striking perennial native to Chile, prized for its rubbery blue-green succulent foliage and vivid bright magenta-violet blooms that light up the garden from summer through fall. A member of the Portulaca family, it thrives in tough, dry conditions and makes an excellent ground cover for challenging sites, as well as a standout in rock gardens, borders, and containers. Commonly sold in the nursery trade as Calandrinia spectabilis, the correct botanical name is Cistanthe grandiflora.
