Carex oshimensis 'Evergold' – Variegated Japanese Sedge

Carex oshimensis 'Evergold' – Variegated Japanese Sedge

A lovely evergreen, grass-like perennial from Japan, 'Evergold' brightens partially shaded gardens with graceful, arching foliage marked by broad creamy-yellow centers and green margins. The fine-textured leaves spill attractively over rocks and the edges of pots, making this compact sedge an excellent choice for borders, groundcover, rock gardens, and containers. Small brownish flower spikes appear in spring, while the variegated foliage provides the main display throughout the year. It tolerates deer, boggy conditions, and some drought once established, but performs best with moderate water. Occasionally, shoots may revert to plain green; remove those shoots to preserve its attractive variegation.
