Campanula rotundifolia – Harebell (Bluebell of Scotland, Bellflower)
A delightful California native perennial also found across other parts of North America and beyond, harebell brings airy movement and lovely blue color to the garden. Deep blue, bell-shaped flowers, ranging from upright to gently nodding, are held on slender, erect stems from summer into fall. Its clump-forming habit fits beautifully into woodland and rock gardens, coastal plantings, borders, and containers, where the delicate flowers attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. This drought-tolerant perennial prefers sun to light shade, well-drained soil, and moderate to dry conditions.
