Verbena lilacina 'De La Mina' – Cedros Island Verbena

Verbena lilacina 'De La Mina' – Cedros Island Verbena

A delightful evergreen perennial subshrub from Cedros Island off Baja California, 'De La Mina' forms an attractive upright mound of finely divided green foliage. Dark purple buds open to fragrant lilac-purple flowers, with a generous spring-through-fall display that can extend through much of the year in mild coastal gardens. Selected by Carol Bornstein and introduced by the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, this free-flowering, drought-tolerant plant is excellent for sunny borders, butterfly gardens, large containers, groundcover plantings, bedding, and generously sized hanging baskets. Its flowers attract butterflies and hummingbirds, while its tidy, mounding form brings long-lasting color to low-maintenance landscapes.
