Silene dioica 'Clifford Moor' – Red Campion

Silene dioica 'Clifford Moor' – Red Campion

This attractive variegated perennial brings a lovely combination of golden foliage accents and soft pink flowers to lightly shaded borders. Clumps of rosettes produce dark green, narrow leaves edged in creamy gold, with the margins becoming more chartreuse as the leafy flower stems develop. Single pink flowers rise above the foliage in May and June, drawing butterflies and providing delightful stems for fresh bouquets. Discovered at Yorkstock Nursery in England, 'Clifford Moor' offers especially handsome color from spring into midsummer. Although tolerant of deer and coastal conditions, it performs best with moderate moisture and well-drained soil rather than prolonged drought, particularly in warm climates.
