Salvia 'Raspberry Truffle' – Sage
This lovely winter-flowering sage brings rich color to borders from late fall through early spring, with deep purple flowers held in dramatic near-black bracts. A hybrid of Salvia mexicana and Salvia gesneriiflora discovered by Andy Maycem, it combines striking blooms with attractive thick, hairy, deeply veined leaves. The foliage is deep green above and velvety purple beneath, creating a delightful contrast as the leaves move in the breeze. Butterflies and hummingbirds visit the flowers, while its deer resistance makes it a practical choice for sunny garden borders. This tall, tender perennial appreciates protection from severe winter cold.
