Salvia x 'John Whittlesey' – Shrubby Sage
A vigorous, wide-spreading hybrid of S. darcyi (native to Mexico) and S. microphylla (native to the SW USA and Mexico), 'John Whittlesey' is a tough, long-blooming evergreen shrub that earns its place in any sunny garden. Salmon-red flowers bloom from spring through fall on a large, sprawling mound of foliage — a warm, rich color that bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds can't resist. Hardy, heat tolerant, humidity tolerant, drought tolerant, deer tolerant, and gopher tolerant. An outstanding border, bedding, rock garden, and container plant.
