Ledebouria socialis – Silver Squill
A fascinating and highly collectible evergreen perennial bulb native to South Africa, Silver Squill is a favorite among cactus and succulent enthusiasts for its striking, fleshy leaves — broadly lance-shaped, mottled silver and olive green on top with deep violet undersides. Dense clusters of tiny green flowers edged with white and purple stamens appear in spring, adding delicate seasonal interest. Remarkably drought tolerant and happy in dry shade, it works beautifully as a small-scale ground cover, in wall cracks, containers, or as a long-lived houseplant.
