Calamintha nepeta – Calamint

A delightful perennial herb for sunny borders, woodland edges, and rock gardens, calamint forms a bushy mound of scented gray-green foliage beneath airy clusters of small white to pale-lilac flowers from summer into fall. Bees are drawn to the long-lasting floral display, while the fragrant leaves add another sensory layer beside paths and seating areas. Native to Europe, northern Africa, and western Asia, this adaptable plant offers drought tolerance and deer resistance with a soft, informal appearance. Grow it in well-drained soil with moderate to low water, and shear after flowering to tidy the plant and reduce unwanted self-seeding.
