Aquilegia formosa – Western Columbine

One of the most beloved wildflowers of the Pacific Coast, Aquilegia formosa brings a delicate, woodland charm to any garden with its nodding, scarlet-and-yellow blooms that hummingbirds simply cannot resist. Native to western North America from Alaska to Baja California, Western Columbine naturalizes beautifully in shaded borders, woodland gardens, and native plant landscapes. Its ferny, blue-green foliage is attractive even when the plant isn't in bloom, and it self-seeds gently to fill in over time without becoming invasive.

  • California native and western North American native
  • Hummingbird magnet
  • Attracts butterflies and native bees
