Alstroemeria 'Mauvelous' – Peruvian Lily

Alstroemeria 'Mauvelous' – Peruvian Lily, Butterfly Lily, Incan Lily

Alstroemeria 'Mauvelous' is a lovely herbaceous perennial with funnel-shaped flowers that combine mauve-pink outer petals tipped in green and gold-yellow inner petals flecked with brown. Its long-lasting flowers appear from spring through fall and are excellent for cutting, while the plant attracts butterflies and other pollinators. Growing 2–3 feet tall and spreading slowly by rhizomes, it makes an attractive border or pot plant. Provide sun to part shade and moderate water with moist soil; the original growing notes also list tolerance of bog conditions, deer, and drought. Pull spent stems from the base rather than cutting them to encourage new blooms, and provide staking if needed.
