Perennial: Deer resistant. A hybrid of Salvia mexicana x Salvia gesneriiflora, discovered by Andy Maycem. Very tall, tender & winter-flowering border plant. Attractive foliage, its leaves are thick, hairy & deeply veined. Deep green on top & velvety purple underneath. Attracts butterflies & hummingbirds. Bloom time: late fall-early spring. Bloom color: deep purple w/near black bracts. Height: 3-4'. Width: 3-4'. Exposure: sun. Water: moderate/dry. USDA Z7.
